FAQ

Questions and answers

Can I get rid of ants and roaches myself?
Store-bought sprays can help with a small, new problem, like a few ants on a counter. But they often kill only what you see. The nest or source stays hidden, and the problem returns. If you keep seeing pests after a week or two, it is time to talk to a provider. A local provider can find where they are coming from.
Are DIY treatments enough for termites or mice?
Usually not. Termites work inside wood, soil and hidden gaps, so a spray from a hardware store rarely reaches them. Mice multiply fast and squeeze through very small openings. Traps may catch a few, but the entry points stay open. Both problems tend to grow quietly. A provider in our network can inspect, find the source and explain the options. Catch it small, and the work is often simpler.
How do I choose a pest control provider?
Ask a few plain questions. Is the provider licensed in your state? Do they carry insurance? Will they explain what they found and what they plan to do? Ask for a written quote that lists the pests, the treatment and any repeat visits. Be careful with anyone who pushes you to sign on the spot. A good provider answers questions calmly.
How much does residential pest control cost?
Costs vary by pest, home size and how big the problem is. In the U.S., a general pest visit often runs about $100 to $300. Termite work can range from several hundred to a few thousand dollars. Wildlife removal also varies a lot. Always ask for a written quote before work starts, and compare what each quote includes.
How can I keep pests out during hot, humid summers?
Start with moisture and gaps. Fix leaky pipes and keep gutters clear. Seal cracks around doors, vents and pipes. Store food in closed containers. Keep firewood and mulch a few inches from the house. In crawl spaces, damp air draws bugs, so check for standing water. Small habits add up and help you stay ready for the season.
What should I do if I think I have bed bugs?
Look for small rusty spots on sheets, tiny bites in a line, or bugs near seams of the mattress. Do not spray random products around the bed, since that can scatter them to other rooms. Wash bedding on high heat and then talk to a provider. Bed bug treatment usually needs a careful plan and sometimes more than one visit.
Can I remove a squirrel or raccoon on my own?
It is risky. Wild animals can bite, scratch and carry disease. A mother may also have young in the attic or chimney, and trapping her can leave babies behind. Some places have rules about how animals can be handled. Wildlife removal is safer with a trained provider who can also close the entry point afterward.
What happens after I send a request here?
You tell us what you are seeing, such as the pest, the room and how long it has been going on. We then connect you with an independent local provider in our network. The provider reaches out to you, asks a few questions and can set up a visit. Availability varies by provider. You can also Request a callback to check who is open.
